IR illumination efficiency and surveillance object
When analyzing IR illumination efficiency in CCTV usually we take into account influence of equipment characteristics (video cameras, lenses, IR illuminators etc.). In this article we take into consideration the influence of an object under observation itself on IR illumination system efficiency.
State-of-the-art CCTV can not be imagined without IR illuminator. 8-10 years ago these were nearly exclusive expensive devices solely from famous foreign manufactures. The bulk of them were represented by illuminators on the basis of halogen lamps with power from tens to hundreds watts.

Cameras with built-in IR illumination have been quite popular in the last few years. Nearly every manufacturer of cameras in Taiwan and Korea produces several cameras of this kind for indoor and outdoor application.

Matters of different cameras’ sensitivity in visible spectrum band and IR band, impact of CCTV different elements on image quality, application conditions, IR illuminators characteristics and many other issues will not be mentioned in this article.
